I am an installation-based artist whose work revolves around themes of home, collection, collaboration, the cosmos, and play. My site-specific work grows out of an interest in astral exploration within local communities and interdisciplinary collaboration. My practice involves travel, home-making, psychic recycling, meditation, being a good listener, letter-writing and conversation.
My sculptural/social installations grow out of experiments in home and home-making, collaboration and collective action, play and building relational playgrounds. I explore universal issues of relating to one another by sincerely engaging in site-specific action and encouraging an inclusive adventurous collective spirit.
My working process is space-specific and organically responsive, as each project is an exploration of my relationships to neighborhood, universe, social/solitary atmosphere, and collective histories. I prefer to develop projects rooted in place and based on collaboration and community. Story-telling, story-making, and story-sharing are important elements of the spaces we build together.
My creative work is community-specific and socially responsive and thusly takes on many different forms. Projects have included building a neighborhood radio station, facilitating a social center on a frozen lake, developing creative living systems within a former thrift store, running a mountaineering camp in a gallery, collaborating out of my car on mobile road-residencies, reading the stars, growing a collaborative garden, mystic homeschool correspondence courses, and living intentionally in a small town.
