CAMP LITTLE HOPING MACHINE
SHARED SPACE STUDIO, PENTWATER MICHIGAN
CAMP LITTLE HOPING MACHINE was a six-week long experiment in focused intention and the immutable nature of optimism. As an extension of the HOPING MACHINE projects, CAMP LITTLE HOPING MACHINE is an organically assembled sculpture designed to collect cosmic energy. Like previous models of the HOPING MACHINE, it manipulates the energy fields around and within it to develop a collection of thought-forms, energy orbs, and cosmic force that can be applied to our everyday psyche through the practices of meditation, compassionate action, old-fashioned fun, and spending time together. This model moved away from the strict geometry of previous experiments and instead focused on site-specificity and intentionality in order to function.
Instead of being portable and itinerant, the architectural framework remains as a permanent installation in the meadow and the textile-based shadow acts as the mobile mirrored element. Instead of being enclosed and pyramid shaped like the other models, CAMP LITTLE HOPING MACHINE is an A-frame passageway. Emphasizing movement and mindfulness, it marks a threshold of personal proactive transformation.
